Updates, Surveys and Quarters
January 14, 2011 18 Comments
We got an email this morning from a Republican precinct committeeman with a letter from Marion County Republican Chairman Kyle Walker. The letter announced a few things.
- Marion County Republicans will gather for slating on Saturday, February 12th
- The County Party coffers were depleted from the 2010 election but they made a big fundraising push and began 2011 with nearly $30,000 cash on hand.
- A volunteer is upgrading the website for precinct committeemen to utilize for several functions and plan to have it up and running by March 1st
- The County will go back to the township organization and will have final selections by February 1st
Walker also sent out a sixteen question member survey to “be used by the Central Committee to make informed decisions for the future of our Party.” We thought it was ironic we got a copy of this letter and survey just a day after we read a post by Paul Ogden trashing Walker. Ogden’s post said the only way to build the Republican Party up is “by strengthening the power of the grass roots”. Paul, we know you have an ax to grind with David Brooks but just because someone you do not care for is in a leadership position does not mean grassroots activists are not being empowered.
We should not expect anything else from Paul at this point though. He trashed us yesterday as an “insider Marion County GOP blog” and compared us to, among other things, the “GOP country-club establishment.” We can tell you none of us have ever been members of a country club and we would bet some “insider” Republicans hate our blog.
Paul, our blog does not have a survey so we are not worried about what you think of us. The Republican Party DOES have one but they have not asked your opinion since you are not working with their organization. Travis Tritt has a song for you.
You do realize that David Brooks doesn’t even live in Marion County, don’t you. So you have no problem with people not even in Marion County serving as high-level supervisors in the Marion County GOP. I don’t have some personal grudge against David Brooks…I have the same animosity toward Brooks I have against anyone from the outside Marion County coming into my GOP organization and threatening party workers. I”m surprised you don’t have a problem with that.
It’s an easy issue – if Walker doesn’t get rid of Brooks, that speaks volumes about what he thinks of the role of party works in the organization.
Paul does make a valid point about the Hamilton County residence issue. If the Brooks’ have a home and are citizens of Hamilton County, why does’nt he perform his wonderful sleaze-mongering powerplaying for the benefit of Hamilton County republicans..
Yes, we are aware of Brooks residency. Paul, you also said you have known Brooks for 20 years and you did not like him before so we are not surprised you are taking the opportunity to pounce on him now.
The guy has been active in Marion County politics for 20 years and only recently moved to Hamilton County. You don’t think there is a some institutional knowledge there?
And, Brooks runs Center Township. A lot of people jumping up and down to work for Republicans in Center Township, are there?
It is not our decision who is the Marion County Center Township Chair and, frankly, we do not care that much. We just think it is funny you are so hung up on it. Since you do not live in Center Township and you are not a member of the Marion County organization, you really do not get a vote on this.
This blog is interesting. It is as if the Ballard Camp said, “Remember Frugal Hoosiers? That blog was awesome! It said great things about Governor Daniels and helped spread his message and agenda in the blogosphere. We should do the same thing!”
The only problem is Frugal Hoosiers had plenty of material and facts, from a constantly moving Daniels’ administration, to fuel their blog. This blog really has nothing but little morsels or truth and innuendo that it spins into whatever it wants. I must applaud you because you do fairly well with so little substance, but no one is buying your drastic attempts to make Ballard and the MCRCC seems simply amazing.
We liked Frugal Hoosiers and lots of other blogs but we aren’t trying to be them. We started a blog because we didn’t think our views and the things we like to write about were really being represented. But to act like we haven’t written on policy is ridiculous. Check the whole blog, friend.
Also, if you like Frugal Hoosiers you should check out Capitol and Washington. We link to them on our sidebar.
Dang foreigners from Hamilton County- how dare they help out Marion County Republicans!? Next thing you know they might volunteer or, God forbid, write campaign checks!
WSP, Interesting blog, good spin:
Marion County Republicans will gather for slating on Saturday, February 12th
So the four folks that Dave Brooks hand picked will be slated at large will be featured. Will the appointed PCs be there also? Now that TOJO is gone, wil Kyle tell them how to vote? or should I say threaten them how to vote?
The County Party coffers were depleted from the 2010 election but they made a big fundraising push and began 2011 with nearly $30,000 cash on hand.
Really, where did all of the money go? Fishburns campaign..ha, Marks winning campaign? $30K to run 4 CCC at large races, good luck with that.
A volunteer is upgrading the website for precinct committeemen to utilize for several functions and plan to have it up and running by March 1st
Will the new site feature all of the contracts you gave out on a no bid basis? Or will it give us Abduls work out schedule at the Colombia club.
WSP, When did Brooks send this to Kyle to distribute?
You can put all ofthe purfume on a pig that you want…it’s still a pig
We didn’t know anyone was trying to keep up with Abdul’s work out schedule. If you are that interested, we’re sure he would post it on twitter for you.
While I see both Jon’s and Paul’s point of view in regards to Brooks, I think the best result is in the middle.
There are several districts within the General Assembly that contain sections of Marion County and sections of the donut counties. I’m sure some of the national House of Representatives fall into this category as well.
So what’s the best way to handle these situations in regards to slating, nominating, and funding candidates whose districts cross county lines? Do the other donut counties also have representation within the MCGOP like Hamilton has Brooks?
I’m sure these same questions could apply to the county Dems and the county Libertarians as well.
Four day a week workout; Sunday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, One hour or 1000 calorie burn, whichever comes first.
Someone let Kyle Walker know he is off the hook for providing Abdul’s workout plan on the Marion County Party website.
Kyle,
Please remove the arms dealers work out schedule from the upcoming website.
Dave Brooks
It isn’t nice to post as someone else. We’ll let it go but don’t do it again.
Sorry, I was trying to be light hearted. I guess that a little humor does not have a place on the 25th floor. You guys need to lighten up a little. Pretty obvious that Im not Dave Brooks. Im sure that you have already seen that my ISP is in Marion county, not Carmel.
Yeah and we like it but we don’t want folks getting upset about comments that they didn’t actually make.
I fully understand ..Thank you. Carry on.
ha ha ha!
