Matt Tully: No one cares about the parking deal. Agreed.

Tully, we couldn’t agree more. This is all inside baseball that only people who like to complain about literally everything that happens have time to care about. I’m sure everyone knows exactly what blogs I am talking about.
Really? Was it an “insider game” in Chicago where the parking deal was so unpopular it toppled a legend who had been Mayor for decades? Why do you think it will be different here. You do realize the public uses these meters every day, right?
But hey we made ACS wealthy for Ryan Vaughn and Joe Loftus and that’s the important thing, right?
Seriously, you think Mayor Daley was toppled by the parking deal? Give us a break. Daley could have set the city of Chicago ON FIRE and still been elected by ridiculous margins.
We use the meters every day and are ecstatic that we will be able to use credit cards. Plenty of other cities around the country have these types of meters and these rates. We’ve lived in them and we didn’t notice any riots.
Paul: I’d hazard a guess that less than .01% of all Indianapolis voters use parking meters regularly enough to know what the rates are. So they won’t even notice when the rates go up. And those that come downtown infrequently for special occasions will be thrilled to be able to use a credit card, and find a spot easier since turnover will be higher.
Your “expert analysis” is always so entertaining…
Keep on wishing!
WSP, while no one is against modernization of parking, I have yet to see a proponent of this deal actually refute the claims that Aaron Renn and several others have bought to the table. Of the several meetings I attended, there was a total of one proponent who was a regular citizen. Every other opponent at every meeting I attended was someone who worked for Park Indy LLC or the city, or the law firms they hired.
Matt, you are proving our point. No one is interested in this issue. It really is inside baseball. As long as the meters work, no one will care.
